Unplug for a moment. You're walking in the city, a busy street, cafes. What do you see? Many people, many and especially young people with their mobile phones in hand. Look at yourself. When you're not working or studying, what do you use the most? For the younger generations, this is clearly the smartphone/iPhone. They will carry this habit with them for the rest of their lives.
You can do online marketing in many ways. Here we will limit ourselves to explaining, among other things, the most relevant platforms and opportunities where Kopstorm can help you.
Nowadays, social media is one of the best possible ways to arouse interest in products and services among potential customers. Not all social media platforms are equally suitable for online marketing. For further discussion, we opted for “Social Networking” via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn
Whatsapp, although it has by far more users than Facebook worldwide, is not included in the list. Whatsapp is a platform for 'closed' groups, more private. So, strictly speaking, it is not part of the “social media”. You can consider it a 'different' form of texting and is therefore less suitable for advertising and online marketing.
What makes Facebook, Instagram & Twitter very suitable for online marketing is that
Our opinion:
Another one:
On Facebook, it is possible to set up a fully integrated online store that runs like a regular online store in every way. What is important here is that the Facebook webshop 'mobile first' is. In other words, it is primarily designed for mobile devices (smartphones, tablets). Setting up the webshop is free. You do pay a 5% transaction fee on each sale (including VAT and shipping costs).
LinkedIn is a social media platform intended for business networking. With LinkedIn, you can make yourself or your business visible online to professionals. It is helpful in finding a job, freelance work, clients, or potential partners.
You can distinguish Marketing Emails as:
Headstorm automates your customer database and your mail process. This way, you save a lot of valuable time. You can send more emails with much less effort. In this way, you improve your customer relationships.
Affiliate Marketing is when you promote your products or services on websites other than yours.
An affiliate, also known as a partner, is someone who promotes other people's products in exchange for a fee/commission. Affiliate Marketing can be simple, but it can also be big and complex.
In its simple form, there are 3 parties: the entrepreneur/trader, the advertiser (the affiliate) and the consumer/customer.
In the complex form, the affiliate is a major online advertiser and uses an affiliate network (a fourth party). The affiliate network is a platform that establishes and regulates the interactions between entrepreneurs/traders and affiliates until financial settlement when a sale is made via the affiliate.
We explain this with a few examples.
In Dutch “Search Engine Advertising”.
SEA is for the guys with money! In SEA, you and your competitors bid on keywords to appear at the top of the SERP (Search Engine Result Page) page. At SEA, you buy your (top) seat by paying for it.
Example: Enter as search terms on Google: online marketing. In the first places, a number of websites appear with 'bold'Advert'. These sites bought their top spot by bidding and paying.
Of course, SEO is important. So much (too much of the same) is being written about it and many claim excellent SEO expertise. Read 100 publications about SEO and it always seems like chewing gum with a different flavor. Enter SEO as a search term and you'll find tons of sites offering SEO expertise.
So you can say no problem, we'll do what's said there or hire an expert. Unfortunately, that is not that easy. Because when applying the basics, you quickly end up in the twilight zone. Determining whether you or an expert have applied SEO with great distinction is a precarious issue. Why is that so? Because no one can decipher the Google ranking algorithm. Trends can be identified, but it is not an exact science. And by the way, what's the difference for your business when you land on page 5 or page 10 of the search results? Will you make more sales as a result? Do you often open websites from pages 3 or 4 of the search results?
So should you not care about SEO? Yes, because the basics that Google takes into account for its ranking are the very things that take the quality of your website to a higher level.
Why do people visit a website? When they think they can find what they are looking for, logical. So if someone is looking for a product or service that you offer, they may end up on your website. However, this is not all. People are often looking for information, things they want to know more about. They want to make conscious choices and do this based on knowledge about the product or service they want to purchase. For example, by providing a “blog” where you post articles with useful information and knowledge related to your products or services, you are doing “Content Marketing”. Through these posts, you will attract visitors to your site. If your content is original and unique, you will retain visitors, otherwise they will soon be gone.
Example: BricoPlanit has an 'Advice' section at the top of its menu bar. This is a blog with a very large number of articles about “How do I make... ', 'This is how you make...' etc... This is a great example of “Content Marketing”.
In the Websites designed by Headstorm a blog can be included that you can fully manage yourself. You can add, change or remove articles, photos, videos, etc. yourself. Of course, you can Headstorm do this for you too. Scared that something would go wrong? If you host with us, that's no problem at all. Your website is backed up every day. If something goes wrong, we will restore the correct version.
You can also do “Content Marketing” via social media and build newsletters that link to your website/webshop. Headstorm can automate the sending of your newsletters and emails.
Why pay attention to “Mobile Marketing” separately? Because today (July 2021), 60% of Google searches are performed on a smartphone/iphone. Note that with 40% of the queries, the dwell time is still in favor of the ldesktop/laptop, coincidentally 60%. When a distinction is made by age, the younger generation's mobile phone is the clear winner. Some even speak of a 'big shift'. And... where visitors come, they buy.
Websites and ads designed for desktop/laptops aren't just right for use on a mobile phone. Website builders take this into account. Today, only 'responsive' websites are being built. The design and ease of use of a “responsive” website automatically adapts to the device used: desktop/laptop, tablet or mobile phone.
So no problem? Don't have a problem right away. However, there are developments that it is good to consider if you are having a website built or want to advertise digitally. Contact Headstorm to discuss your specific situation.
This will not be a history lesson, nor will it be a comprehensive discussion about the importance of Online Marketing. The following 3 simple facts speak for themselves:
